Texel
The Texel breed originated in Holland and is characterized by a distinctive short, wide face with a black nose and widely
placed, short ears. It has a clean white face and legs, and both sexes are polled.
The most outstanding feature of the Texel is its
remarkable muscle development and leanness. On a grass based system, it is characteristic for the Texel to develop only minor fat
covering of the body, therefore the Texel slaughter lamb can be sold over a longer period without loss of slaughter quality.
